According
to the Employment Service Statistics of the Ministry of Employment and the
Economy, at the end of September the number of unemployed jobseekers registered
at Employment and Economic Development Offices totalled 224,000, down 16,600 on
the previous year. Compared with August, the number of unemployed jobseekers
decreased by 11,000.
The number
of new vacancies reported to Employment and Economic Development Offices during
September totalled 42,200, or 2,500 more than September in the previous year. In
all, the number of unfilled vacancies amounted to 70,800 in September, which is 6,800 more than a year ago.
At the end
of September, unemployed jobseekers under 25 years of age numbered 27,100,
representing a decrease by 2,700 from September a year ago.
At the end
of September, the number of long-term unemployed who had been unemployed
without interruption for more than a year amounted to 56,300, up 300 on the
previous year.
The number
of foreign citizens among unemployed jobseekers totalled 17,900, up 600 from
September a year ago. Of these foreign unemployed jobseekers, EU/EEA citizens
accounted for 3,900 at the end of September, equalling the figure for the year
before.
